Collab Viz: Perspective Systems

3/30

The wider apart the vanishing points, the more comfortable-looking the perspective appears. However, it also becomes harder to sustain straight freehand lines.

This issue becomes more prominent as I translate it into more complex cube forms. The longer things went on and further away from the camera I drew, the more I had to remind myself to adhere to the established system of drawing I had laid out. It was certainly tempting to freehand the tinier details- I am guilty of this in the lamp and desk/bed legs. However, it was satisfying to be able to apply the scale and measurements of a 6 ft human to my room, and have everything line up nicely.

3/31- Redrawing the room from a new perspective

3/30 Floor Plan Drawing (In Class)
Ceiling feels too low.

This iteration was abandoned due to a level of perspective warping that I deemed too uncomfortable. Even at the maximum distance apart that my paper afforded me, I still couldn’t put my vanishing points far enough apart.

I opted to extend the leftmost vanishing point off page instead. Although I had my doubts about this iteration, as everything seemed very cramped horizontally, my units of measure held up. The aforementioned floor plan drawing was crucial for this, as I had an idea of the dimensions of the room.

I ran into some troubles with the rectangular wooden legs of furniture.

I redrew the reference figures to fit the top-down perspective. I could stand to brush up my figure skills, tbh. Also included are the diagonal walls and roof slope.
